The reason is that this new boat is 100% fiberglass. It takes 10 days from start to finish to build one.
Most of the major manufacturers produce 12-20 boats a day. Each Basscat bass, sport fishing or other boat for sale at our Alabama location is hand-built - not on a high speed production line such as the others. The Basscat Sabre, Pantera, Puma, or other boat is molded in two separate molds like all other brands. But the difference is rather than just setting the top cap on the hull and screwing it together with sheet screws, the top cap and the lower hull are glassed and bonded into a single piece unit. No screws hold a Bass Cat together. The major manufacturers have problems with the screws backing out of the foam core construction so the top cap becomes loose on the bottom hull and consoles often come loose in your lap. The new and used Basscat Boats for sale at our Alabama store use vinyl ester epoxy resins which are top quality and very expensive but will not work with high production techniques. These resins offer a brilliant shine immediately out of the mold. Competitive boat brands come out of the mold with a dull finish and are buffed with a high speed buffer to obtain their shine. Much of the gel coat and swirl marks are hard to totally eliminate.
